At the beguinning of the 90´s was the legal formation of the Dominican Institute of Virological Studies (IDEV); but it was not until 2000 that services were extended to ambulatory patients and 2004 when its own facilities were opened in a converted family dwelling. Various areas such as out-patient consults, nurse’s station, psychology, education, pharmacy and even an area for children to play have been formed. All areas are provided with air conditioning and two 25 kilo generators maintain electricity during working hours; one of these provides power to the laboratory and the pharmacy 24/7.

 

Our facilities are located near the state university, UASD. It is accessible by the metro or buses that run along Independence Avenue, one block below its site on Dr. Pineyro.

 

Our service as an outpatient clinic is provided by a highly specialized staff  physicans versed in the most current medical advances. We work closely with the National Program for HIV and AIDS, but we also provide private consults. The services we provide include medical checkups with periodic blood samples of our patients to test for the viral load and CD4 count. We also offer other important services such as counseling, palliative care. pediatrics, nutrition, all within our philosophy of maximum confidentiality, ethics, non-discrimination and quality.  If a specialist is needed, IDEV has a list of those physicians willing to treat those having HIV.
